I know I said my previous post would be the last thing I write about Mormonism for a while, but I can’t pass up this opportunity. I watched most of conference this weekend and I’m wondering which talks inspired or interested people the most.
I was personally intrigued by Elder Russell M. Nelson’s talk about his wife and preparing to meet God. That’s certainly one I’ll study thoroughly when the transcripts get posted on Thursday. I’m also more than a little curious about the church’s new missionary program, Preach My Gospel, announced by Richard G. Scott.
Anyone else have a favorite talk you plan to study in more detail later?
I really liked Elder Bednar’s talk about “The Tender Mercies of God”.
I enjoyed several talks for different reasons. I, too, found Elder Nelson’s and Elder Scott’s talks intriguing. President Packer’s talk about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon was one of my favorites. I thought President Hinckley and Elder Oaks laid down the law on gambling and pornography (again). Finally, I thought President Hinckley’s first talk made him sound as if he were the CEO of a very properous Fortune 5 company. How the Church of Jesus Christ has grown in just 175 years!
Interestingly, one of the most poignant moments for me this weekend was watching the news recap the life of Pope John Paul II. What a wonderful, caring, honest, stalwart man and servant of our Lord, Jesus Christ. I am sure the Lord loves him. I hope I can be a little more like that man in some way.

I wasn’t able to check my notes when I wrote the original post this morning because the laptop was at home. Now that I’m able to check my notes, I see that I had marked Elder Bednar’s talk as one I wanted to read again. I also marked Robert J. Whetton’s talk on conversion as one to read later.
